Fallout 4 S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Video #5: Intelligence

October 12, 2015 by Gary Leave a Comment

Get Access To New Knowledge, Technology And Inventions With Your Intelligence S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Ability...

The latest in Bethesda's old-time educational videos for Fallout 4 abilities has been released. This time, Intelligence gets the treatment.

While this and the previous S.P.E.C.I.A.L. (Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma) videos have been humorous in tone, they've imparted real knowledge about each of the abilities. And there are hints about how the abilities can influence your character in the jerky film reel style presentation at the end of each video.

As with previous games in the Fallout franchise, Intelligence will be crucial for things like hacking and creating the best weapons.

There’s something toward the end of the video that I want to pick up on, though – Vault Boy is riding a toy car (rather than being in one driving it) while the narrator talks about using your technological know-how to get around. Could cars be heading to Fallout 4?

That would be an interesting addition. Previous game footage videos have shown vehicles you can fly as well as personal Jetpacks. It certainly looks like your character won't be as Earth-bound as in previous games. It wouldn't be the first time cars featured in a Fallout game. While they were absent from Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, they did appear in Fallout and Fallout 2, when the game was presented isometrically rather than as a first/third person RPG.

Or maybe that clip is a metaphor for something else like a working transit system, better navigation or some such. Player-controlled vehicles would be a big change but would be a great addition to the game. If they are included, presumably they can be used as weapons as well, to knock down enemies or ram doors?

In any case, whatever awaits us in Fallout 4, there's now just under a month to wait...:)
